Your Legal Obligations

Employers have legal obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and the Electricity at Work Regulations Act 1989 to ensure electrical installations and equipment are safe. Our periodic electrical inspection and electrical condition reporting service Fixed Wire Testing, will ensure you fulfil your legal obligations. When carrying out testing, we only provide experienced electrical engineers certified to City & Guilds 2391, and with IEE Wiring Regulations (17th Edition) qualifications.

KVA Electrical carry out fixed wire testing to the latest 17th edition of the Wiring Regulations, and Guidance Notes 3. Fixed wire testing does not include appliances that plug in e.g. kettle, printer. Plug in items are part of our PAT testing service (portable appliance testing).

All our Electrical Engineers conducting test and inspection are qualified to C&G 2391 level, having this detailed knowledge provides you with a comprehensive and complete report on the condition of your electrical installation. If any defects through deterioration or mechanical damage are discovered whilst carrying out the test, then these defects will be explained to you in lay mans terms, and if required, a quotation for their rectification will be issued to you.

 

​Many insurance companies now request that a current and up to date fixed wire test has been carried out on your premises (Electrical Installation Condition Report), and many will also invalidate insurance policies until this has been carried out.

On completing a “
fixed wire test” a full report /certification will be issued providing details of your distribution boards and circuits, it will high light any faults present in the installation. Preventative measures can be implemented to reduce production downtime and increase productivity.
